How long should it take for a head gasket and water pump on a 807 HDi To do 2.2 Turbo Diesel. Also what should I pay for the parts – a rough estimate would be great.
Gee is correct to do with the book once for the job. However, I have done this work a few times before, and if you ask any decent Peugeot or Citroen mechanic, you get the same answer. This job is a complete do b *** h and is highly unlikely, so smooth that it be done in less than 3 days to go. Allow me to explain. Apart from the fact that the Engine is buried deep in the car and be a lot of things must be removed first, the biggest problem has occurred, remove the injectors. These must be removed are to the camera cover, which in turn must be removed to gain access to remove the cylinder head screws. There is a high probability that the injectors are firmly in the lead corroded pipes. The injectors in this engine are about 12 centimeters long and go right from the top of the head to the tip of the cylinder, they go through Guide tubes in the head to keep them away from the oil in the head, and these guide tubes are a tight fit. After a short time (I've seen it in 9 months happen corrode) the injectors firmly into these guide tubes and guide tubes are a part of the cylinder head and can not be removed. So you can find that the injectors are not removed, can not be deported in which case the cylinder head, either. It is an incredibly stupid design by Citroen / Peugeot, and each time had I have done this job then the injectors were corroded solid. However, the injectors must get or the only other option is a NEW ENGINE! With much Patience and work is sometimes possible to the injectors by breaking the plastic rounds away from them and welding a large hub nut to them, then can Use a 3 / 4 "drive socket with a 4-foot-long skeleton Set Bar use to try and turn the injectors in situ the corrosion that is holding them close pause. A colleague can try with a large crowbar to pry the injectors to make up, like the bar. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I assure You that this job is really that bad! This is not even sure way of removing the injectors, as I used this on a car that was so bad that this technique only works on 2 out of 4 of the injectors do. Removal of the third injector, we had to completely remove the engine from the car and chain on a wall, so we have enough movement to get on the pen, to remove it. The other problem is that sometimes the pen rests in the middle, in the event that something worse. If the injectors wont come out easily (which they wont), then it is likely to break into the process to remove the. The injectors cost £ 300 each for a total of 1200 pounds for the four of them. If some of them come from without, then a new engine must be child's play. One time I had this job on a Citroen C8 2.2HDI (exactly the same as the 807) and located 2 injectors in situ, removed the engine, the third out. As I grabbed the fourth injector cried Citroen say technical assistance, we would have for too long as far as this task practice and would Citroen pay us for the lost time because it was their stupid design flaw. Quick as a wink Citroen told us to put in just a new engine! I could not believe, and asked her a bit more. They told me that is was quite common, unless the cylinder head gaskets and they had approved a number of engine replacement. I know this is not the message that you wanted, but if someone tells you that you are getting an unpleasant surprise when the garage bill. Do you expect a Labor bill of £ 1000 – £ 1500, if the job goes well. Do not be surprised if you need new injectors also at an additional £ 1200th If They expect a new engine needs a bill of £ 5500. This problem is quite well known to the dealer network, and there is even a bit of a joke, like a designer can f ** k up so bad with the engine design. (did not know it, a steel pen was going to attack in an alloy of lead pipe? mixed weld corrosion! d'oh)
